About the Iraq War and the little girl who loves documentaries :)

  These are Rafael Cavada and Santiago Pavlovic, chilean war correspondants and those responsible for me being here. Francisco Cavada born on december 15, 1967 in Vallenar, Chile Santiago Pavlovic born on november 6, 1946 in Machalí, Chile. They both studied in the Universidad de Chile, worked in Telelvisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) and covered the war in Iraq. The Iraq War had a huge, weird and unexpected impact in my life, from name my teddy bears after the president of the United States when I was 2 (shoutout to Bushmei and Bushmei Primo) to decide what I wanted to study. When I was 7 years old, I watched a tv program called "Informe Especial" about the Iraq War and  they showed the moment when the US soldiers pulled down the Saddam Hussein statue in Bagdad. About the romantic idea of being a journalist and a really tired student :)

It's not a secret that I'm not the biggest fan of my major and that makes a little bit difficult talk (on this occasion, write) about it, but if there a thing that I like is the idea of being a journalist. This romantic conception about the journalist who risk their career and their life in favor some super important information that the world has the right to know it's one of the reasons why I decided to study journalism (I watch so many movies, I know) It’s interesting how my experience as a student has not taken away this idea of ​​what journalism means. I’m still believing that the world depends on the people whose job it’s to inform. There are thousands of stories around the world that must be heard and it’s the duty of journalists to make it known in an ethical, responsible and true way, even though they may endanger themselves.
